One of my kids pulls out a bunch of eggs to do whatever with it and my mind dashed to the past. I burst out laughing . The kids looked strangely at me and I had to tell them
When I was a kid , I never saw egg in my house . And when I go out and see it , I was afraid someone who knew me could see me looking at a whole boiled egg . You see growing up , if you are seen eating boiled egg ,they say you are going to be a thief because you like big things . Sounds ridiculous now but then , no matter how you acquired the egg , you are asking for beating or in the least a stern warning .

Believe me , it’s for real . Again in my high school days , it was a big big deal to sit with friends and order a whole baked chicken . The tale will be told for days .

I think it has more to do with the economy of the times . It Was a few years removed from the end of the civil war when my people faced virtual extermination
